Following last week’s surprise of Friends With Benefits beating out the challenge of Cowboys & Aliens, this week was the turn of Horrible Bosses and three friends who decide their lives would be a whole lot better without their bosses around.

Avoiding the gross-out humour of recent summer comedy offerings such as The Hangover Part 2 and Bridesmaids, the Seth Gordon-directed Horrible Bosses has been generally well received by Australian critics. As the only film on major release over the weekend, expectation was that it would top the charts: it did not disappoint, pulling in $3.2 million.
